See what I can see in the debug log:
^^^^ PROCESS OBJECT EVENT object:children-changed:add:system ^^^^^
KEYBOARD_EVENT: type=1
id=65293
hw_code=36
modifiers=16404
event_string=(M)
keyval_name=(Return)
is_text=False
timestamp=641824153
time=1547109072.946203
keyType=alphabetic
clickCount=1
shouldEcho=False
vvvvv PROCESS ATSPI_KEY_RELEASED_EVENT: 'M' (36) vvvvv
@Samuel: Any idea why return key is transformed to "M" when combined with
control?
The return character is actually control-M (and tab is control-I) so
that's the idea behind the behavior.
Should I need to report an issue against AT-SPI?
The X11 event contains the return keysym in that case so it's probably
at-spi or atk (or perhaps even gtk) which needs to be fixed, yes.
