I did that Peter but for some reason it's not showing up in Orca's synth
list.
Here's what I did.
1. sudo pacman -S espeak-NG.It auto removed espeak
2. sudo pacman -S espeak-ng (this actually installed espeak-NG)
3. went into /etc/speech-dispatcher/speechd.conf ad uncomented the
espeak-ng line, and recommented espeak since I removed that.
4. Restarted my system. No luck. I have other synths on here that work,
but no sign of espeak-NG in the synths list.
Also, can't I just get an AUR browser and install orca-git directly,
I'll assume the usual build instructions also work for Arch? I've not
reread the build page in ages thoughf

Hello,
As for switching from espeak to espeak-ng what you did sounds right to
me.
I have never touched speech-dispatcher configuration, espeak and now
espeak-ng is the only synth it talks to thus it lists it under orca
preferences as the default. And it all works fine. Except of some rare
words pronounciation and better emoji support, there aren't much
audible changes when comparing these two.
If you would like to install orca master instead of the latest orca
stable version, you can install orca-git from the AUR.
1) Download and unpack the package file (can be done only once or
whenever it updates in the AUR).
wget "https://aur.archlinux.org/cgit/aur.git/snapshot/orca-git.tar.gz"
tar xvzf orca-git.tar.gz
2) Change to the directory where the build script got unpacked into
and build the package.
cd orca-git
makepkg -s
3) And install the resulting package like so...
sudo pacman -U orca-git-*-any.pkg.tar.xz
4) After it's installed remove the package file you have just installed
rm orca-git-*-any.pkg.tar.xz
5) Restart orca by pressing alt+super+s two times with slight gap
between the presses or restart it by putting orca --replace into the
alt+f2 runbox.
6) If you wish to pull new changes from git just perform steps 2, 3, 4
and 5 again.
Greetings
Peter

Subject says it all.
Two newbie questions.
1. How do I go about grabbing the orca-master, is it in the Arch repos
and I can simply pacman -S orca-master and it'll work,or....?
2. I have espeak. I want to move over to espeak NG. I did sudo
pacman -R espeak, sudo pacman -S espeak-NG and that's as far as I got.
Do I need to edit any files after this since I was assuming it'd just
show up in the list on Orca's settings?
