I'm uncertain, will CC this to the Orca list as well.
There's a chance the install issues aren't even an Orca problem, and
could be a pulseaudio or speech-dispatches problem.
I'm guessing for technical reasons, it has to operate on a quick
filesystem. Maybe USB 3.0 would work, instead of USB 2? Or maybe a
small external SSD drive.

How might one encourage the linux mint authors to improve accessibility?
How may one let them know it is important for orca to work at installation
and after as well?
Thank you for your writing to me.

Not since I went blind, no. I tried various distros back when I could
see including Ubuntu, and personally, always preferred Linux Mint.
It's nice and easy to use and navigate, it's basically Ubuntu so all
support resources are there for you, and it lets me setup and manage
my full stack development server with Nginx, PHP, mySQL, php-fpm, etc.
Or at least never used other distros for my personal laptop, but
obviously have used lots for servers.

Had you tried other versions of linux also?

Ohhh, in that case, then yes, Linux Mint MATE supports total.
My laptop sits about 5 feet from me, and I just sit here with a
wireless keyboard and headphones, and never look at the screen.

Hi Daniel,
Not sure what you mean by "total", but Linux Mint MATE works fine for
me, and I'm running a software development company with it at least.
I've been using it for probably 7 years now, although only went blind
2 years ago, and have never had a problem with it.

Hello Matt.
My name is Daniel.
I am on the orca list.
I read you are using linux mint, mate edition.
I thought mint was not usable for a total.
When did this change?
