Lives is quite usable. The time range is selected by frame numbers in two highly 
accessible spinboxes, and the selected frames can be played to be sure the 
selection is correct. Everything that can be done from within the selection can 
be chosen from the menu system. The multitrack editor didn't seem to work for me 
all that well, but the standard clip editor interface is very easy to use.
