Since Ubuntu 17.10 ubuntu ships with gnome instead of unity.

In Ubuntu 16.04, running the Gnome desktop, you can arrow around to the windows you have open and press enter to jump to that window.


You can also hit alt+control+tab once to get into the dash and your list of favorite apps. Pressing alt+control+tab two more times will take you into the list of applications on your system.
