Re: [orca-list] Fedora-MATE-Compiz: Some programs that require super-user rights are not accessible

As is so often the case on Linux, there are many paths to a particular
result.

In the current discussion you also have the option to edit the relevant
/etc file using your favorite text editor, whichever that may happen to
be, e.g.

vim /etc/group

And you can add users to any group.

As a general rule, expect there will be at least one graphical tool for
some specific task, one or more text console tools, and config file
editing as options--those three.

hey there,
yeah system-config-users is not an accessible app I had to mod my user
via the terminal.
the command you would be looking for is
sudo usermod.
example I want to add myself to the libvirt group to run virtual
machines as me, I would do this
sudo usermod -a -G libvirt majid
-a means append, and -G is group
the letter G is capitalized.
may be worth submitting a bug report?

Hi again.

Still, I hurried with conclusions.
Gparted becomes accessible; But System-config-users are not accessible.

Hi Pavel!

Thank you very much for sudo-e, it works.

Hi,

at this time, go to the assistive technologies settings and check the
enable assistive technologies. Click close and relogou and after that,
you can use:

sudo -E applicationname

Hi All.

This is not related to Orca; But I remember that this topic was
discussed in this mailing list.

Fedora-MATE-Compiz has the Gparted program as well as a utility for
managing users and groups. For their work, they require super-user
rights.
I know for sure that Orca allows you to interact perfectly with these
tools, but they are not accessible in this distribution.
I would be very grateful if someone told me how I can fix it; And
what information should I send to developers to resolve this issue.
I also note that, for example, Caja and Pluma even with super-user
rights are accessible to Orca.

Thanks in advance for the attention to my problems.
