You don't need to create a physical disk in order to access an ISO file 
from within a VirtualBox virtual machine. If VMNAME is your vm name and 
ISOFILE is your iso file, you can do this:

vboxmanage storageattach $VMNAME --storagectl "IDE Controller" --port 0 
--device 0 --type dvddrive --medium $ISOFILE
