I cannot reproduce reading the start page again. However, I am finding
quite a few cases where Orca is not presenting the object under the
mouse on a google search results page. The reason seems to be that Orca
looks at each container's bounding box to determine if it contains the
mouse. We have instances where the bounding box has coordinates of 0,0
and a size of 0,0 even though it is the element which contains the
element under the mouse. That really sucks.
I guess this happens when the text entry is empty? There is
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1319273
which will be fixed in firefox 62.
I think what you describe is a different bug for the following reasons:
1. I'm using Firefox Nightly. Shouldn't I have the fix already?
Yes
2. The text is not empty. It has at least one replaced-object character
in it.
Ok, so it's not that.
3. As I alluded to in the text above, and stated explicitly in the part
of the message you didn't include, it's not the character extents I
am looking at; it's the bounding box of the entire container:
Ah, ok, sorry.
