Under the raspberry pi 2, actually had to use an external USB audio 
adapter to get orca to play along under ubuntu mate, but, not sure if 
same thing applies on the pi 3.


Either way, for a site and mailing list specifically applicable to using 
the raspberry pi mini-computers with screen readers, check out the 
following URL:

For example, the guy who runs that site, Mike, has put together a 
combined image that offers command line/console boot-up, which then 
allows you to launch ubuntu mate GUI from that command line, etc.


Tried it out, and, if remember, did then need to switch over to USB 
audio adpater after firing up ubuntu, but anyway.
