Looks to me like a series of dependencies on orphaned packages. Am I
wrong? I'd dearly love to be wrong!

You do need bbzrtp.
For what it's worth, here are the deps of linphone on Slint64-14.2.1.1,
with all codecs included:

The list can vary depending on your distribution, of course.
@Slint users: linphone is not included in the ISO. To get it type as
root:

spi -i linphone
