So does Debian testing keep MATE updated better than it keeps GNOME
updated? Last time I tried to test Debian with GNOME, I got a mix of
components from 3 different versions. I haven't recommended Debian
Testing for anyone other than power users for this reason, and I
typically only run Debian in any form on servers, where I use the stable
version, because it was released less than 6 months ago. If the mixed
versioning problem is fixed, i.e. if all MATE packages are at version
1.20, rather than some being 1.20 and most still being 1.18, I wouldn't
have a problem giving it another shot. The problem is that this mixed
version problem seems to come up rather frequently, and appears to take
a rather long time to resolve when it occurs.
