Hi all Well, as much as I’d like to ditch windows, I can’t just yet. I told storm dragon I’d help him get his alter aeon and kallisti mud packs working in windows Linux emulation mode, so I need it hanging around to do that. But I’m back in Ubuntu mate. I’m sorry, but I just cannot get antergos working when installed. I appreciate everyone’s help, but it really does seem like there’s a bug somewhere. I’m no longer sure it’s an antergos bug because I really do believe everyone when they say their antergos installations work. The live installation works too. It’s just the installed system that doesn’t speak. I’ve tried muting and unmuting the sound, raising and lowering the volume, both via the shortcut keys and amixer. If, and that’s a big if, I can get orca to speak it’s random and not predictable. So it’s back to Ubuntu mate 16.04 with a PPA of mate 1.18. I still plan to keep trying and if antergos or some other roling distro ever works I’ll switch to that. For now, I’ve got Linux working and I prefer Linux to windows. I do have another machine, but it doesn’t belong to me. It’s my fiance’s, and hers is a Toshiba satellite c55 with secure boot on, which means only Ubuntu or fedora will boot. Antergos tries, but apparently doesn’t have a signed loader and won’t boot. Her machine also has a touch screen, and while Linux supports it, orca doesn’t work so great with touch screens. Yet. Thanks Kendell Clark open source isn't just a license. It's a way of life, and as such, should be defended against all that would destroy or profane it. |
