Re: [orca-list] Very strange braille display problem

Hello,

I know braille users consider this as a very basic feature however it appears orca can't do the word wrapping yet.
Here is an older discussion on the matter and it appears it would be awesome if one of orca dependencies liblouis can help with word wrapping. I haven't really verified how it stands so far. I only have link to an older discussion at this time: https://mail.gnome.org/archives/orca-list/2016-July/msg00205.html

Greetings

Peter

Guys,

I'm having a really odd problem with my Pacmate BX Omni 20 cell display connected via USB. U\buntu 17.04, Ghome 3, Orca 3.22.2.

I'm running the most up to date firmware of the BX20 Omni firmware that comes with Windows Mobile 6.5 on the unit. It slips my mind what that version number is however; sorry.

When reading along in a document on the display, I come to the end of the 20 cells. I then either hit the top row router 20 button, or I click the right whizwheel up one time.

This takes me to the next panned 20 cells. NOte that for users who may not be braille users, this (all caps,) *DOESN'T! mean that you're necessarily at the end of the literal line of text. It just means I ran out of cells on the display, and therefore had to pan to the right one time.

Anyway, If the line of text said the following:...

Hello my name is Chris.

What you'd see is Hello, my name is Chr

Then, I'd pan, and see:

ris.

In other words, it's breaking my panning in the middle of words.

So, you may see something like:

Many people may ask wh

y.

Instead of:

Many people may ask

why.

it cut the word why after the wh sign.

I'm using contracted braille, US English grade2 non U E B.

Please, does anyone know how to fix this?

In the Orca settings, under Braille, I made absolutely sure that disable line indicator wasn't checked, although either state isn't having any barings.

I'm not sure if it's because I have such a small little bird display, or not. Further, I don't know if this is specific to this display.

I could try with my Braille Sense Onhand, but it's not near me. It's on the other side of the room, and I don't feel now like getting up. Yeah, I know. po bay beh, I can't walk 10 feet to get it? LOL!

Anyway, anyone got any thoughts?

I should finally add this is happening globally throughout the OS. It's not just happening in one application.

Chris.
