I see a lot of discussion going on mate.
Is the Gnome version accessible enough?
I had just posted an email this morning (IST) about a similar query.
So has any one tried Ubuntu 17.04 with Gnome?
Happy hacking.

I had a look at the Mate versionand found that they finally managed
to get the login screen talking. Though the live system had a
fully-accessible desktop, the installed system did not. File manager
windows were invisible to Orca. If, as you say, Canonical has
heavily patched GNOME, one imagines that the Ubuntu-Mate folks have
done so with Mate, as well.
What do you mean by the installed system is not accessible ? DO you
have installed the system with Orca ? If not, you have to enabled Orca
with alt+win+s and login out/login in to have Mate accessibility
enabled and to be able to access the Mate menu and the file manager.
If you have installed Ubuntu Mate 17.10 with Orca and after reboot it
is not accessible it is a bug and you have to report it to the
developers to make it fixed.
Best regards.
