Hello,

The default video player on the Gnome desktop Totem also known as Videos can also play dvd discs.
It has similar user interface to a Text editor Gedit. Of course Text editor allows editing text thus features multiline text entry where Videos plays multimedia content instead.

Install VLC. That will play most anything.
