Yea, they're just normal .txt files,sometimes .srt, alsough I don't know how their displaying is beeing handled

Aren't subtitles just text files anyway? How are they displayed when you play a movie in mplayer or vlc. Text 
on screen? If so, then we should be able to read it. If it is a graphic--something like a captcha--then I 
don't know.
