Re: [orca-list] Firefox notifications

Orca should already be speaking the alert message. For instance, it does
for me when the remember-password doorhanger appears. There are,
however, other doorhangers that Orca does not present. When that happens
it is because either the role is wrong or an event is missing. See, for
instance: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=443097

I don't know why you would have to press space/enter twice. Doorhangers
are not in document content, so Orca does not override keystrokes.

As for navigating to them quickly: Doesn't F6 move you between the
document frame, toolbar, and doorhanger? It does for me, putting me on
the button to close the alert. Once in the doorhanger, I press Tab to
move amongst the focusable items.

Hi,

I understand your point. But:
1. NVDA doesn't move the focus, it just speaks the alert message in the
Firefox bar. Somewhat like ARIA which would speak a message changing
when filling a form. Eg, you install a plugin, you hear "Firefox
attempts to...".

2. If indeed, it appears a good thing that the user decide wether the
focus goes to the bar or not, the problem is when the bar is randomly
accessible. shift-tab reaches it, we interact with it, but the buttons
don't appear immediately. I need to press space/Enter twice or more to
check a box and get the next steps.

Last time I checked, NVDA did not change the focus when the password
door hanger appears. I cannot check what NVDA does current because I'm
traveling.

That said, when you are not in document content, Orca updates its
location based on Firefox. So if a door hanger appears and Firefox
doesn't give anything in that door hanger focus, you haven't actually
moved. And if you haven't moved, why should Orca take you out of the web
page and put it in the door hanger which might disappear and which the
user might just wish to ignore?

I'll check what NVDA does when I get home.

Hi,

Firefox displays more and more pop-up. eg. "Do you want to save
password" "to share micro" "to ..."? Accept, Refuse, Close this message,
etc.

With NVDA, it's quite simple. The focus is on the proper buttons and
it's easy to choose via tab and space keys. Submenus, etverything is fine.

Why isn't it possible with Orca? Tab is very random (we never know
wether it reaches the notif bar, the buttons, etc). Sometimes yes, most
often no. I've never managed to make Hangout work due to it. An idea? A
fix possible? Can we help?

In the same order of thing, I use Webvisum to hear captcha. With this
plugin, you choose "Solve tee captcha". On Windows you hear "caqscha
sent to server" then "result pasted in clipboard". Orca never speaks
these Firefox notif.

Is it some possible improvements for 3.22?

Best regards,
