I may have asked the following question some years ago, but don't recall 
the answer (if I got one) and have no clue how to find it.  Anyway, what 
would be the effect of putting a screen reader in user space on whether 
or when boot-up messages would become available?  I realize that getting 
those in the first place requires having hardware speech, and that using 
hardware speech is difficult with recent kernels.  I do have a 
Tripletalk LT I'd like to be able to use again if that kernel problem is 
ever fixed, though, so I care about this some.  Thanks in advance for 
any commenters or pointers to information.
