If I understand mkinitcpio correctly, it is possible to place userspace
programs into the initcpio before the root filesystem is ever mounted,
so it seems possible to include a screen reader that could access boot
messages extremely early, even with software speech, as long as all
necessary binaries are included, as well as any necessary device
drivers, such as snd_*. That said, all boot messages are available from
dmesg if you can get it piped out to either a file or a speech
synthesizer. Hope this helps.
