[orca-list] flat review weirdness

OK, let me know if I am doing something wrong, but I wonder how to use
Braille correctly in orca.  Take a simple case, if I hit alt-f2 I hear
in speech, enter a command, etc., but there is no way to see this in
Braille.  Any  of the flat review keys just says blank in speech and
nothing in  Braille.  When going into the panel I see the blinking
cursor and my typing does come out in Braille.

So, is this me doing something wrong, or is there some problem?  Doing
any of the Brltty window keys, does nothing.
