The example page with Grails is using an increasingly-common
method of rendering code-- it's a table, but with one td filled
with divs holding numbers.
I vaguely remember Marco Zehe complaining to Github about it,
and I believe they changed it.
so at least in the Grails case, no screen reader can read this
right. I understand why they do it, as visually it makes sense
(and I think they do this also to allow readers to copy code
without copying the numbers), but it's not good code.
cheers,
_mallory

Yes, same behaviour with NVDA using your example page.
The code is contained within a <pre> tag. I am guessing that some
CSS is applied to the tag to generate the line numbers, but I'm not
sure.

Hi Nick.
Thanks for the clarification.
Do you know if it happens when using nvda?
It is extremely annoying when its a large code block.

Hi José,
I have seen this on Windows using JAWS and IE, so its not just
an Orca/FF issue.
Very annoying as you say when its a large code block.

Hi all.
I've a small question.
In some pages I find something like:
1
2
3
4
...
78
79
80
|buildscript {|
|||ext {|
||...
it seems that orca presents a bunch of lines only with numbers
and then presents the content of each line in separate.
It is annoying if the code to be shown is very long.
A place were this can be reproduced is:

Is this a bug in FF, orca, in the page or work as designed?
Thanks.
