Howdy,

You should consider to move the discussion  to the LIOS mailing list. For sure there are more deep in the 
matter. They  also can fix your bugs or add missing features.
 
The other possible  solution  could be a simple script for doing your task. That should not be a complicate 
thing.
The scanimage command could be used here.

Put it in a loop add a sleep command and tada ;)
