Hello there,
Some thoughts on this request;
Note: Using Orca 3.18.2
Currently, when I tested this, the "where am I" function doesn't seem to
accurately report what element is in focus. Likely different in Master.
So, just a small list to illustrate;
Doc 1
Doc 2
Doc 3
Doc 4
Doc 5
If I start at Doc 3, and press say, Page down to select the rest of the
documents,"Where am I" outputs something like "Layered Pane, Doc 3, 2 of
5 items selected 2 of 5 selected on 3 of 5."
I think Where am I should output the suggested listing for #2, and the
read out by Orca should likely announce the items being selected if
using the shift plus arrows, but if using the page up or down in
combination with the shift key, Orca should likely announce how many
items are selected, with the current item being in focus. If that
outputs too much information, in case folders should be to large of
information, maybe have a toggle to allow users to decide what a read
out should be?
Just my thoughts,
Alfonzo Cuellar

Hmm, maybe #2 so you can distinguish it from #1, and know that more
info is available should you need it?

Hey all.
Given icon panel with icons arranged in a grid (i.e. and not a
list). If
you use shift + down causing, say, 6 icons to be selected, what should
Orca say?
1. Just the focused item so you know where you are?
2. The count of items newly selected, along with the focused item?
3. The name of each newly-selected item, ending with the focused item?
4. Something else?
Right now Orca is (at least for me), doing the first thing. This is on
purpose because if there are a bunch of items, that will be a lot of
spoken stuff. And where am I will tell you what is selected, so you can
always ask Orca for this information.
That said, I was working on a fix for Caja and figured I'd ask you
about
your thoughts on the matter.
Thanks!
