Hello,
I have filled an issue for spacefm
https://github.com/IgnorantGuru/spacefm/issues/620 .
The fact its main developer is willing to do something about
accessibility him-self made me start trying to do at least the initial
work my-self so I know he'll likely accept it as long as it's usefull.
Greetings
Peter

hi
This is fantastic news. Have you created a pull request for the spacefm
guys? You should definitely get this murged upstream once the work is
complete. Then we'll have one more file manager we can use, which is
always a good thing.
Thanks
Kendell Clark

Hello,
I suspect this is caja issue although I have not used caja nor seen
its codebase yet.
About a month ago I started playing with similar thing for SpaceFM
file manager. I do have ported ATK support for its icons view from
PCManFM and I am also looking to possibly implement ATK support for
the desktop window.
I feel porting this from pcmanfm to spacefm was not a very difficult
task since spacemanfm shares some bits and pieces with pcmanfm. I
managed to port the selection handling without issues and I only had
to do adjustments for accessible name implementation.
This is still a WIP but if anyone is interested I can send a patch.
Greetings
Peter

hi all
Steps to reproduce. Open up the caja file manager, which is the
filemanager for the mate desktop. Make sure you're in icon mode by
pressing alt+v to enter the view menu and selecting icons. Try to select
icons by pressing shift plus the arrow keys. Orca should announce the
icons as being selected, but instead it's silent. Tested with both orca
stable, 3.18.2 and current orca master. Note that this is the gtk2
version. In the gtk3 version, the icon view doesn't speak at all yet.
Thanks
Kendell Clark
