Re: [orca-list] Accessible CD encoder

hi
I've found a program called rubyripper that does secure ripping. I've
installed it and will test it against asunder to see which is better. If
rubyripper is better I'll switch to using it. It looks up using freedb,
which means it should automatically identify cd's when inserted. I'll
try with both an audiobook and a music cd I have lying around that I
often test on.
Thanks

I'm pretty sure asunder and sound-juicer can and I believe they do by
default. I'm not positive, but I thought I saw something about accurate
rip in there, but I'll check. I know I was not impressed with a popular
audio ripper for windows called exact audio copy. It looks up a cd
database that only allows 10 queries, and then expects you to pay 8
bucks for a lifetime license. I think that's flatly ridiculous. Not so
much for the amount, but that it would use a proprietary cd database.

I'll agree with christopher. Asunder is the "official" cd ripper
included in all versions of sonar because it's only compeditor,
sound-juicer, had an inaccessible "extract" button you had to get to
with the flat review. That was it's only bug but I thought it might
confuse first tie linux users, so I switched to asunder.
Do any of the mentioned rippers support secure ripping of any kind yet, and can they validate against
something liek the accurate rip database?

If you don't know what I'm talking about, search for secure ripping and accurate rip on your search engine
of choice.
