Re: [orca-list] Libreoffice Calc gets slower and slower with Orca running

Hi all,

I have just built the latest Libreoffice from git, and so far I haven't been able to reproduce this problem, so perhaps the bug has been fixed by someone recently.

In my system's currently installed Libreoffice version (v5.1) I can reproduce the problem quite quickly by pressing F2 and then Escape repeatedly.

However in the latest version (5.2 alpha) that I built from source, I've pressed that combination for around 5 minutes and Orca remains responsive throughout.

If anyone else fancies building Libreoffice from source to confirm that would be much appreciated.

Fingers crossed!

Regards,

Nick

Hi Nick.

If I had to guess, I suspect it's this bug:
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=71409

And note that the use of F2 and Escape described in that bug should not
be taken to mean "F2 causes it." That was just a way to reliably
reproduce it and illustrate the increasing event spewage clearly via the
listener I attached.

Hi all,

I have noticed that after a while of editing a spreadsheet in
Libreoffice Calc, my system gets progressively more unresponsive, to the
point where Calc is unusable.
If I close Calc and re-open it again, speed returns to normal for
another 10-15 minutes or so.

I can't find anything on the web about other non-Orca users experiencing
this problem, so could it be something to do with Orca?

I've seen this behaviour under Orca v3.16, 3.18 and now 3.20, with
Libreoffice 5.0 and now 5.1.

Does anyone else use Calc regularly and have they seen this issue before?

Thanks,

Nick
