Well, looking at this with nano, called by mutt in a console on my arch box, utf8 being default charset I hope, I only hear null for the end of the name. Oh, and this using espeakup, not speechd-up. I'll experiment a bit more later today and see if I can get this read. I've not tried from y gui yet. I will test another synth if I can easily, should have pico on vinux, and festival on arch if I remember correctly, flite as a fallback as well is on one if not both boxes to avoid dummy when espeak crashes every year or so once or twice. -- B.H. hi all While reading a fantacy series called the mortal instruments, by casandra clare, I came across this name. Dieudonn. Orca is silent when highlighting the last two characters. I tried on mellisa's windows box, and eloquence says that the character is a "y acute". I checked the unicode value of the character with orca, which I got by hovering over it and pressing numbpad 2 three times. The value of the character was FFFD. I'm not at all sure what to do. I've already reported this to the espeak list, because I'm not sure if this is an espeak issue, a speech-dispatcher one or an orca one. Can anyone else confirm this? The Name I tried to fix is on it's own line to make it easier to copy and paste.
