[orca-list] empathy accessibility?

hi all
I'm not sure if I've brought this up before, my memory is saying yes.
I've recently discovered empathy, the built in gnome IM client. It
supports everything I do with pidgin, so I gave it a try. It's much
improved accessibility-wise from the last time I tried it, except for
one thing. I cannot get orca to announce chat messages automatically.
Additionally, the orca+f keystrokes, f1 through f10 to read the most
recent messages don't seem to work. There also doesn't seem to be a read
only text area for reviewing the chat messages as in pidgin, so I need
to use flat review to read them. Occasionally empathy will produce a
notification, which of course orca reads. Joanie, do you know what would
be needed to make this work? I'm thinking it might just need an update
of the empathy script, but of course I'm no expert. I like the idea of
an all in one chat application, plus phone calls. I have looked around
in settings and see nothing accessibility wise, except I did find a
notify option in the menus, which enabled the notifications. I also
tried enabling the carret just in case that was necessary, but no luck.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Kendell clark
