I'm using Trisquel version 7; it's based on Ubuntu 14.04; the next will
be based on Ubuntu 16.04. It is a free distro, maening it neither
contains nor recommends non-free or proprietary software; this includes
device support in kernel. Its default desktop is a variation on the old
GNOME fallback setup; GNOME Shell can be added. Applications included
in the live distribution are: the standard GNOME Accessories, Games,
Internet, Office Sound and Media, and System Tools groups. Besides
those, you'll find Pidgin Messenger, Lifria Feed Reader, Transmission
Bit Torrent client, and Electrum Bitcoin Wallet. The Orca on the live
system is 12.2, and can be upgraded from the experimental accessibility
development ppa and/or pulling and building from Master. The included
web browser is a non-branded Mozilla called ABrowser. In the repository
is a non-branded version of T-Bird called Icedove. Many other packages
can be installed from the repos, using the standard APT utilities.
HTH,
Dave
