Re: [orca-list] dropbox?

No matter the distro there have been problems with accessibility of the screens that one sees when setting up
a new computer to connect to dropbox.
The below gives the command for 64bit installation.
If you have a 32bit box you will need to substitute/check on the website as I do not remember if they use
i386, i686, or something else.
Basically you want to install dropbox as if you had no gui.
There are instructions on the dropbox website and many other sites that give the method to do these headless
installs.
Do not try and run the whole thing as one command, and there was a no longer valid tar option...
Here are the right commands
wget -O - "https://www.dropbox.com/download?plat=lnx.x86_64"; | tar xz
When it finishes start the dropbox daemon from a log-in console, not the terminal that opens with control alt
t!
./.dropbox-dist/dropboxd
should do the trick.
This will open up a dialog where you will see a very long url you must paste in to a GUI browser such as
firefox. It does not have to be on the same
computer that you are linking to dropbox.
Now dropbox will start syncing.
To get full integration with nautilus you install nautilus-dropbox with your favorite installation method,
e.g. on Debian based systems,
sudo apt-get install nautilus-dropbox
I'd wait till everything finished syncing just because, but this should not be necesary.
There is a seperate dropbox package that integrates with caja for the mate desktop, and I wrote about how to
use droppuburl with pcmanfm and other file
managers that do not have a dropbox package of their own.
For Arch based systems your packages are in the aur, so use something like packer to get your nautilus or
caja extension packages.

Hello, not sure if i've wrote in about this previously,
and contacting dropbox themselvs got your system isn't supported bla bla the
usual lol, so the issue is I've installed dropbox and caja-dropbox from the
official arch/sonar repos, and can't get it to set up! I get as far as To
log in, press control G as in Giraffe. That key combo does nothing, left
clicking etc does nothing, so I am forced to exit. I can attach a
screenshot of the setup I took a while back, maybe someone with some eyes
can see what I myself, and certainly orca is not. Hope it may help. Thanks
so much!
