[orca-list] 1st point about hypra project

Hi,

On January, I had good feedbacks about this project:
https://mail.gnome.org/archives/orca-list/2015-January/msg00079.html

It has been created on February. Here's its status today:
- we reported some bugs to Debian, libreoffice, Orca, Compiz;
- we produced one patch for Orca to add a binding to increase/decrease the speech volume; - we have various contributions in Compiz to add many features and to make Orca work in it properly. - we reach to an integrated solution, including MATE, Compiz, Orca, and Debian-based system.
- we started packaging Compiz in Debian.

Even if the system is free software, its installation requires some service, except for power users (especially that it's not yet in Debian, the process is in progress). That's what we invoice. Hence 2 products families: - a ready-to-use system, invoiced 300 euros, or 500 with all DVDs of Debian distribution. This system is accessible for blind people (Orca), low-vision people (Compiz), and usable by everyone. Thanks to MATE, it can be installed on very small configurations and is very easy to handle. It ships, in Orca, default bindings or, if user prefers, JAWS bindings. With the system, someone can buy training. For example, a 5 hours pack is 450 euros. - a Universal Accessible PC: for 900-1000 euros depending on the settings, a user can buy a machine where, immediately after boot, Orca runs. User just needs to choose between disabling Orca, and playing with visual layout.
With training, 1400 euros.

Why such prices? 1st to pay for our developpers and trainers. 2nd because we know we will not sell a lot of PCs immediately and we need money to do the 1st. It means that the more there're users, the more prices could decrease. 3rd because we want to provide similar prices with the global market, but with service. Thus: - 1500 euros is about the price of a Mac computer, but here there's training, free software, any vision problems would be covered, and it's much easier to learn than VoiceOver. It's also the JAWS or Supernova price (here it's all the system plus support and training). - 300-500E is the price of some software solutions intended to make computing easier (maybe you know Guide, Sonorel or Speakey- ).

Note that this summer, a session about Compiz will start to make it reach the same quality as Zoom`ext.

The support and training can be done in French, English, Italian, Spanish and German.

It's the current status. Available for speaking about all this if you like.

Regards,
