So does that mean, we will not be able to access apps using gtk3?
That will be a major setback.
I thought gnome 3 onwards we were using gtk3?
I don't know then how these apps are inaccessible?

You can forece eclipse to use gtk2 creating an environment variable called SWT_GTK3 and set the value to 0.
Use the following command:
export SWT_GTK3=0
You can include the command in your .bashrc file.
