Re: [orca-list] GUI option for layout mode in master; request for break made

Hi.
Since you are using gnome 3-12, you can test orca master without problems.
I do not know what are the necessary steps to compile in debian, but I think that they are similar to the steps used to compile in ubuntu.

Hi,

Can I usefully test the master on Debian testing? Or is the stack
out-to-date (at-spi, GTK or other packages), as they're based on gnome
3.12? Are they big background changes between 3.12 and 3.14 which
require updating other parts of a11y stack?

Hey all.

The GUI option to turn off layout mode has been committed to master. And
based on Hadi's feedback, I did just make the request to break both
string freeze and GUI freeze so that hand-editing config files will not
be needed and this feature will be officially, visibly part of the GNOME
3.14 release. Cross your fingers.

As a related aside: A couple of people have commented that Layout mode
(AKA keep doing what Orca normally does and present the lines as they
appear) needs to be the default. Of course it does, is, and will be.
Fear not. Users like Hadi who want the Windows-style one-object-per-line
navigation and presentation will have to enable it deliberately.
Everyone else can just go about their business. <smiles>

Take care.
