Re: [orca-list] Is Orca support plug-in architecture ?

I still think the plug-in concept could be quite valuable at some point, but until someone presents a
realworld use case
or three, I say priority should not be given to this unless new orca contributers are interested in working
this out so
that other more pressing issues can be addressed by Joanie and current parttime contributers.
From most of what I see with NVDA plug-ins they provide specific, and sometimes rather minor improvements to
some
program's accessibility. Could this kind of thing not all be handled by the current scripting system?
Some add something to more or less emulate how another screenreader handles something, i.e. a jaws-clone
keystroke to
access the systray. Kind of dumb when nvda has always read the systray correctly and jaws needed to add this
because it
could not, or at least did not with default configuration. Windows has a keystroke to get one to the systray,
but let's
just keep copying anything thaut jaws does because it's there and has market share, no matter that it's not
needed. Not
saying that such a extra could not be needed, and I think I found something similar that did look more useful
when I
browsed NVDAplug-ins.
So, to sum up, yes, plug-ins sound like a good idea, but I'm not thinking up exactly when and where right
now, so unless a
reallly cool use case is presented I say put this on the back burner, or the medium/longterm todo list.
Just my 2&a half cents.

hi
Beeping on progress bar updates, possibly that little click thing it
does when entering and exiting form fields, probably more accurately
said as when it enters and exits focus/browse mode, and a builtin espeak.
That's my two cents

It will very useful that orca will support plugin feature i.e
add-ons , so it will possible that we can add NVDA's plugins in
orca if possible, so it will enhance Orca's power , feature
support list . so if we have to make orca support for plugin
architecture, what changes need to do in orca, it will affects
orca's architecture ?

Ok, lets look at this another way. What functionality would you
like in Orca that NVDA has?
