You are better off using Ubuntu with something like Mate and, if you like some of the apps only available in 
Mint, add the Mint repositories to your sources.list file.  Otherwise, stay away from it unless you are an 
advanced enough user to jimmy it into something vaguely resembling a quasi accessible state.
