flash can certainly be installed on most distros, but for downloading to watch later I highly reccommend 
video download 
helper extension for firefox. It can auto convert using ffmpeg if you install that and configure. 
Also, youtube-dl is a easy to use cli util that will d-load the fild for you, and you can set the filetype 
you want it 
saved in.
