Re: [orca-list] Big Problems with Thunderbird Inbox Listing

I have been using a nightly build of Thunderbird from the end of last week - around June 5th or so. The message list is working much better now. I can actually use the thing now. The only thing I observe now is that status icons like Expanded/Collapsed and the unread status doesn't reflect a change until I switch mail folders and come back. That is a more minor bug still but at least now we don't accidentally delete the wrong messages anymore. I will see about updating the Mozilla bug appropriately if not already done so.

Hello,
I am not sure this is the recent message on this topic posted to this
list but we have a big news available in the mozilla bugtracker.
The bug causing incorrect reporting of list items content after a change
has been fixed. I haven't yet tested this in Thunderbird but it has
definatelly been tested and found working in Firefox.

I've been noticing for a while now, a serious problem with Orca not
seeing the correct contents of the list of messages in a folder such
as Inbox. Let me try and describe this more clearly.

1. Open up Thunderbird; I am using version 24.1.

2. Take a brief look at the list of messages in Inbox and mentally
note the order of messages appearing there along with
expanded/colapsed statuses.

3. Read some messages and delete some along the way as you wish. Also,
while at it, if you have any collapsed threads, open them up with the
right arrow key. then go up and down the list. My big problem here is
this list does not properly reflect the new conditions. You could
easily delete the wrong message or whatever.

4. If you Back tab to the list of mail boxes and switch to another one
and then come back to the Inbox and re-open it, then the list is
correctly updated.

As far as I'm concerned, this problem is so serious, I cannot reliably
use Thunderbird right now. I generally have liked the proglem but this
bit with the message list not refreshing properly really bugs me!

I don't know if this is a problem with Orca or if with Thunderbird. If
I could get better tech info on this, I can file a bug under the
appropriate application.

Thanks and for now, I will be sticking with mutt or go on my Mac and
use that.
