Re: [orca-list] orca does not read any result in duckduckgo with epiphany

Thanks Joanie.

To follow up on this... My original prediction is not as correct as I
had hoped.

When Duck Duck Go takes over the arrow keys, it gives us a focus event
for the link in the results but not for the entire container that is
highlighted on screen. Thus I can get Orca to present the link, but not
the description or URL below it. And you cannot then arrow to the
description below it because, again, Duck Duck Go has taken over the
keyboard. Moreover, getting Orca to present that link causes additional
chattiness with regular (caret-navigable) links in text. So I'm going to
have to give this some more thought, and will probably file a bug
against Duck Duck Go with some suggested markup changes so that screen
readers can better present what is taking place on screen.

In the meantime, the work around seems to be to use their HTML version:

Hey Chris.

Confirmed. Duck Duck Go doesn't move the caret and takes over the
navigation. But I think I get accessible events I can work with to
present the results.

Thanks for the report!

Hi all,

I try to read the search results from duckduckgo.com but orca does not
read it.
if i go to any other page (for example startpage.com) orca does its job
realy good.
i use fedora 20 with an actual epiphany 3.10.3

steps to reproduce
1. goto this link:
https://duckduckgo.com/?q=test
2 try to read the results with caret and arrow up/down

result nothing is read

exept: orca read it

can somebody confirm this?
