For sure do not change to copy a version of windows that is not even very popular.
Also, people are just finally gotten used to the change to super alt s from the old control s, at least
those who are on
newer releases, and making another change wiill just create pointless work for support folks.
And most ppl do not use the microsoft screenreder, even win8 ppl do not use it exclusively as far as I've
heard, and each
wiindows screenreader has it's default shortcut.
This is perhaps the silliest idea I've heard floated in good faith in a long time.
As for adding an extra shortcut, my first reaction was, sure, why not. A quick 2nd thought however over rules
this. Many
of us use a lot of keyboard shortcuts. There's chromvox for instance, and many of us need it to do things
that firefox
can't at the moment. Others define app launchers because they always have and still do, or because they find
it actually
slower to start the variety of programs they need on some of the "modern" GUIs than it was on something like
gnome2 where
you could organize two or three small groups of related apps on custom panels.
Sorry, don't want to debate merrits of different desktops, but just saying that I've been running out of
possibilities, at
least logical, (to me), and easy to remember ones, and accidentally conflicted the key I'd set to launch
cheese with
another shortcut that I don't use that often.
Keep what we have, or at least change to something evocative and logical if one is going to change, o for
orca as Vinux
used to do, but really just do not change. It ain't broke!

Hey all.
Bastien Nocera, a long-time GNOME developer and maintainer of (amongst

Bug 735691 - Change default Screen reader shortcut
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=735691
<begin quoted opening report>
We currently use Alt+Win+S, Windows 8 uses Win+Enter, or Win+Volume
up (on tablets):
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/hear-text-read-aloud-narrator.
Should we switch to that? Or add it?
<end quoted opening report>
Personally, I don't care much what the shortcut is, as long as we have
one and the one we have makes sense. And I myself don't see any problems
with the current shortcut. But if you guys have opinions, please add
them on this mailing list and/or on the bug as a comment.
Thanks!
