Thanks to the people who checked www.coursera.org and didn't have my
problem with it. By showing me that it probably was peculiar to my box,
you inspired me to look more into firefox itself. I copied the
cookies.sqlite file and removed the original, then found that I could
indeed get on the site the way I should. I now have to recreate any
cookies, but I don't think there were many.
If anybody can tell me how to read cookies.sqlite, and especially how to
remove or revise lines in the file, I'll be grateful.
Back on the coursera business, I wonder if the problem arose because I
helped my wife with a course of hers after signing up myself. (She was
having great trouble with certain things on the Windows machine.)
Coursera apparently likes default logins, and it switched from me to her
after I helped her. I wonder if that's what crumbled my cookie.
