I don't find it that hard to use. The only trick I use is to back tab
over and hit the space bar on the view of the folder I'm in. For
example, if I'm in my Downloads directory, I can back tab over and find
a button for CJ (my home directory) and Downloads. If I press the space
bar on the Downloads button, it seems to refresh the view of that
folder, and if I tab over to that list and up and down arrow there
everything is fine.
What version of Gnome and Orca are you running?

Hi all,
the gtkfilechooser is realy chaotical with keyboardnavigation.
for example if i chose an file with strg + arrowup/down and press space
-> the wrong folder opens.
if i try to enter a folder in the locationbar the "autocorrection"
doesnt work at first time i m in the bar.
is there a good was to navigate in this window? i know about the
shortcuts documentet at the gtkfilecooser page alla alt + home and co.
for example can i turn off the search or "last files and folder" button?
can somebody give me tipps with navigation in the filechooser? in my
case its a mesh to save a file :/.
