Re: [orca-list] Running orca

Hi,

Finally I fixed the problem installing again at-spi2-core. It had not installed
typelib and gir files, likely due to dependencies issues.

Now I try orca -t in a simple command line as my Xorg isn't yet started.
I think -t should run a console wizard. I get:
File "/usr/local/lib/python2.7/site-packages/orca/orca.py", line 67, in <module> from .
import settings_manager
File "/usr/local/lib/python2.7/site-packages/orca/settings_manager.py", line 40, in <module> from
.keybindings
import KeyBinding
File "/usr/local/lib/python2.7/site-packages/orca/keybindings.py", line 29, in <module> from gi.repository
import Gdk File "/usr/local/lib/python2.7/site-packages/gi/importer.py", line 76, in load_module
dynamic_module._load()
File "/usr/local/lib/python2.7/site-packages/gi/module.py", line 251, in _load overrides_modules =
__import__('gi.overrides', fromlist=[self._namespace]) File
"/usr/local/lib/python2.7/site-packages/gi/overrides/Gdk.py", line 291, in <module> raise RuntimeError("Gdk
couldn't be initialized") RuntimeError: Gdk couldn't be initialized

I think that is not a good signal for the future and it means that orca may
not run on X. Do you think I should check something? An explanation of the
problem? How can I fix?

Thanks very much,

Best regards,

JPM

Hi.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I think you need to install python2-GObject.

Which distro?

Oh I use a LFS distro (Linux From Scratch). I want to do tests of gnome3 and
accessibility without any packaging issues.

Are you running orca 3.6.2 or orca 3.6.3?

3.6.3

Which version of speech-dispatcher?

http://devel.freebsoft.org/pub/projects/speechd/speech-dispatcher-0.7.1.tar.gz

Do you have python-atspi installed?

Yes, pyatspi2-2.6.0 against python2.7.

Also, can you try the following if possible:
1. Launch a terminal session.
2. type python.
3. In the python prompt type the following command:
import pyatspi

I get the same result as I mentioned: from gi.repository import Atspi

Thanks very much.

Regards,

What are the results?

  I don't understand where I can find Atspi. I run orca 3.6, I installed
  at-spi2-core-2.6.3 and at-spi2-atk-2.6.2.

An idea?

Thanks,
