Re: [orca-list] using google webapps(I.E. drive)

You have to install the ChromeVox extension and a TTS, like the US
female TTS from Google. I've always done this with sighted help. If you
have this set up on one system, like on a Windows system where you can
use JAWS or NVDA to install the extensions, then you'll get this on
another system after you log on and give the packages time to sync and
download. Note that you also have to use the Google Chrome application.
I couldn't get this to work with Chromium.

Actually just thought of trying that as it worked on the mac I used to
have. So I installed the google-chrome-beta package from the AUR, signed
into google, and now what? I tried CTRL+ALT+z and it didn't say
"enabling spoken feedback" as it normally does. What should I do to get
Chrome to read?

No, I run Chrome on Ubuntu with the ChromeVox extension.

So you have a Chromebook as well?
Or just Chromium OS? Perhaps I could use a Chromium VM on this box for
drive.

I know this doesn't answer your question, but I've never been
successful
using Google Drive with anything but ChromeVox, and BTW, I find most
things doable in Google Drive with ChromeVox. The only thing I really
struggle with are presentations.

I also wouldn't be so quick to label something as accessible just
because it works with one screen reader. Who knows what kind of hoops
ChromeVox had to jump through to get it to work with Google Drive.

Hello,
I'd like to know if there are any "special hacks" you have to do in
order to get Orca to read Google Drive. I know it's accessible, as it
reads fine on the chromebook, but orca has difficulty.
here's what I do :
1 - open a web browser
2 - go to drive.google.com
3 - sign in
4 - press the / key to focus the search box
5 - enter part of a document's name
6 - arrow down until I've selected the correct document
7 - press enter
Very similar to my chromebook. But now, I can't read the actual
document. Just some links on the page, almost as if I was holding down
the chrome vox modifiers on my chromebook while trying to read the
doc.
Other google apps(I.E. Gmail, Google Voice, etc) have similar behavior
but work just fine with Chrome Vox on my Chromebook.
