Re: [orca-list] Twitter?

The one GUI tool for social networking I wish would work well with Orca is
Gwibber. It would let you check all your different stuff with the same
application. There was some talk about a year ago about improving its
accessibility in some way with bug reports filed by Joannie and such things
but I checked it out a couple of weeks ago in Fedora 20 Beta and found it
pretty much unchanged.

There's a very minimalistic menu bar at the top under which you have several
controls which Orca interprets as "push button's" but without specific
lables. Under all this, you have your timeline and facebook info. None of
the entries let you like or comment/retweet them either by tabbing or by
arrowing or anything though you can read them after a fashion. Ubuntu 12.04
had a unity menu option for you to be able to post a tweet or update your
status from it which was usable though not totally intuitive from an a11y
standpoint. That, at least was kind of nice but Gnome proper doesn't appear
to have anything like it. You have to go into Gwibber itself to post
anything.

If Gwibber could ever be made accessible though, it would be awesome since
it has an interface to a ton of different social networks not just twitter
and facebook. I don't know what this would entail however. I heard it's
webkit based and has some gtk widgets but, that's all I know with any degree
of certainty.

Corebird is now my personal favorite Twitter client. WOrks quite well with
Orca, and receives tweets in realtime. About the only thing that would make
it perfect would be adding notifications as a tweet is received. Either this
or some Orca scripting that would automatically read tweets as they come in
and repeat using orca+f1-f9 keys, similar to Pidgin. Still, Corebird is by
far the best, even without scripting or notifications.
