Re: [orca-list] [might be OT] [Arch Gnu/Linux] - enabling orca on GDM

Peter, thanks for the instructions. They worked. I'm using Fedora 18.

I tried Kyle's instructions afterwards, hoping they might give me speakup
for logging into other non-gui consoles after I'd loaded the right modules.
They didn't help with that, so I deleted the copy of client.conf. If
anybody knows the right way to do that, I'd be grateful. For that matter,
having speakup available automatically, and having a normal speech response
to my keystrokes rather than the turtle-slow one I have now, are two things
I miss about Vinux.

Hello,
The easiest way to enable screen reader on GDM login screen is to press
ctrl+alt+tab once, then press right arrow key once, then press down
arrow key four times and then press the enter key.
This is with gnome 3.6 on arch linux.
Ofcourse you should make sure sound output is working on the login screen
and you may need to configure pulseaudio as written by Kyle if you are on
arch linux.

I haven't yet tested this after updating to gnome 3.8.

Greetings

Peter

Hello,
I've enabled "screen reader" on GDM,
but the sound seems to be muted and I can't seem to get it unmuted.
How can I fix this?
Sound is fine after logging in.
Bill
