I looked at the GNOME edition of Ubuntu 13.04, and find it seems to work very well, at first glance. I have a daily build as of 19 April, and ran it briefly from a thumb drive; may install soon. Remember: this one has no single keystroke to start accessibility; you need to hit 'alt+f2', type 'orca', and hit 'enter'. You'll be dumped into the standard GNOME Shell experience, with nothing focused. The GNOME edition has GNOME 3.6 and Orca 3.8; no Unity.
