Re: [orca-list] several critical issues

Hello,
My CPU has 8 cores according to the system monitor in ubuntu.
I am using speech-dispatcher, pulseaudio and eSpeak.
Is there a more simpler configuration e.g. using eSpeak directly instead of relying on speech-dispatcher?
I am not considering ditching pulseaudio since I am on ubuntu.
As I feel it my freezes are not related to problems with speech output.

Greetings

Peter

Is the problem only present on multi core machines? It could be a
thread synchronization problem. My own attempts to play with orca(I'm a
sighted person who is researching/building braille devices, thus my
involvement in this list) have shown it to be next to unusable from a
stability standpoint, so you're not alone. I'm on a 64 bit intel core2
duo machine myself. Arch linux. The other question I would have is
what speech driver are you guys using. I experienced all the problems I
had, using the simple espeak configuration that is native here on Arch.
I have never gotten anything else to work reasonably.

    Hello,
With what I am going to say this is going to be a really huge mess.
I am running 64 bit OS on an intel hardware.
So unfortunatelly this appears to break your 32 vs 64 bit theory.

    Greetings

    Peter
