Re: [orca-list] Ubuntu 12.10 desktops

Hey there Robert, yes, super+f10 did bring down a libre office writer menu with one option, being quit.  It didn't offer any of the traditional menubar features, such as copy, paste, spellcheck, etc.  Maybe that'll come before release?  The command did work though, so thanks for the info on that.  Hey, just to throw something else out though, every time I boot my computer, a report problem dialogue pops up, but there is no result when I click the report problem button.  Has anyone else noticed this?  Is there an easy way to figure out what's spawning this dialogue?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks much in advance,

Guy

Hello, Guy.

When you mentioned that LibreOffice had no menu bar, it made me wonder if GNOME's own global menu system had been incorporated.

When you get a chance in testing GNOME Shell under Ubuntu 12.10, open LibreOffice and try pressing Super (Windows key)+F10. When an application is active, its icon and title are displayed on the top panel. When this icon is clicked a menu drops down. From my understanding, GNOME will eventually have a global menu which can be found here. this can also be accessed by using super+F10.

Hope this helps.

Take care.

Gnome shell works well. One thing I'm glad to see is that the message tray is now accessible. I haven't tried kde yet and I agree, parts of unity don't work. One other thing I've noticed is that libre office is buggy. Orca is sluggish when entering
text, and in gnome shell, there is no menu bar. Is there a way to correct this?

Thanks in advance,

Guy

For those that are trying Ubuntu 12.10, what desktops have you found to work well? Parts of the Unity desktop still don’t work.
