Re: [orca-list] orca just says welcome and that is all

Hi,

A few questions, if you please:

1. What version of Orca are you running?
2. What Linux distribution are you running it on?
3. How did you go about upgrading? From source, third party repository, ETC.

Barring an answer to those questions, the first thing I'd try would be to uninstall and reinstall Orca from a console session using speakup. Not knowing what distribution you are running, I can't give you specific commands to do that with. I seem to recall seeing your name on the vinux list in the past so, assuming it's a flavor of Ubuntu like Vinux:

sudo apt-get purge gnome-orca
sudo apt-get install gnome-orca

Or:

From orca source directory:
make uninstall
make clean
./configure
make
sudo make install

I understand there's a cleaner way to do this with autogen but I've always done it this way and had it work for me with Orca sources i've gotten from the gnome ftp site.

Regards
Alex M

Subject: [orca-list] orca just says welcome and that is all

Hi. I have now upgraded to gnome 3.4 and I am trying to get orca to
work. All I get is "welcome to orca" and a number of warnings like the
following:
** (orca:3296): WARNING **: AT-SPI: Error in GetItems, sender=(null),
error=Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote
application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy
blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection
was broken.

I have at-spi-core 2.4.1 and at-spi2-atk 2.4.0.

I would appreciate some help on getting this going.

Thanks.
