Hi.
Here are the steps that I use to build orca from git repository in my
ubuntu precise 12.04.
This is from memory, sorry if I did some mistaken.

Firstly install git.
sudo apt-get install git-core

Now install what you'll need to compile orca.
sudo apt-get install gnome-common
sudo apt-get build-dep gnome-orca

Now you need clone orca from the git repository.
git clone git://git.gnome.org/orca

now to compile:
cd orca
./configure --prefix=/usr/local
./autogen.sh --prefix=/usr/local
make

Change /usr/local if you want to install orca in another directory.

To install:
sudo make install
